Fathers Day Flowers for Boss of Bosses

Posted in Narcotrafico by Ruth on June 21, 2010

Fifteen henchmen of the dead drug lord Arturo Beltran Leyva, or the ‘Boss of Bosses’, left flowers and ‘narcomessages’ at the luxury flats where he was killed yesterday, for Fathers Day.

The ‘Boss of Bosses’ headed up the Beltran Leyva cartel and at the time of his death was one of the most powerful drug lords in Mexico. He died in a confrontation with Mexican Marines in Cuernavaca in December 2009.

After his death Beltran Leyva’s henchmen took revenge on the family of one of the dead Marines, killing his mother, aunt and siblings hours after they had returned home from the Marine’s funeral. The cartel has been locked in a leadership battle since Beltran Leyva’s death, with Edgar Valdez Villareal or ‘The Barbie’, and Arturo’s brother Hector the biggest contenders.

Yesterday the fifteen men managed to get to the flat where their Boss had died unnoticed by the police. They left five crowns of flowers and messages that read “A good friend I will never forget. ‘The Boss of Bosses’ Arturo Beltran Leyva, friend of ‘The Great’, who loved him like a father. I will not rest until I have kept my promise to finish with the homosexual Edgar Valdes Villareal, ‘The Barbie’.”

The authorities later removed the tributes, but failed to catch any drug lords. It is reported that “the security cameras were not working”.
